On Thursday night (04/09/07), Friendly Fire blazed a trail out of town spreading the message of Jam Jah Sound to Kidderminster.
Hosted by Reggae Fest making its debut at the plush new venue, the ten-cafe bar, the night was a great success. Jam Jah kicked of proceedings, followed by a local band playing some Reggae grooves, before an impromptu live jam featuring Lionart, and guest singer Cynical, backed by Friendly Fire regulars Damo (drums) and Robin (guitar) and guest basist. The performance got the place on its collective feet, reaching its peak with Lionart’s outstanding Nyabinghi, before Jam Jah pumped up the volume with a jump-up set!
Thanks to all who came down from Brum and all the local Kidderminster crew and musicians.

The first Friendly Fire session of 2007 was surprisingly busy, thanks to everyone who supported the event and danced til the morning. Equally surprising was the performance by the Myers who was ill and decided to do a straight hip-hop set instead of the reggae crossover we had planned, as Paradox was too ill to perform by is side. He still pulled off some nice tunes in combination with Messenger Douglas who complemeted him nicely. Big shout out goes to Messenger Douglas for coming down at such short notice.
The rest of the night had the Bongo Damo and Robin running the Jam Jah Sound hot, although missing one member, keir, who was also unable to attend.
Big respect to Keith from the original Jah Tubbys Soundsystem who came down from London to check out the Jam Jah vibe.
Next event will be on the 9th feb (check events)

Friday night down the unit, after the Bull's Head, was an amazing night, and a world of unexpected guests joined in with the Jam Jah and Ranking roger soundsystem.
After a revival warm up set by Double H and Ranking Roger, I jumped in and was joined by first by Paradox on the mic, and the vibe was so nice that it turned out into a vocal showdown including the legendary Ranking Roger. Pablo (Paradox's lyrical mentor), Juggla, Andre, Lionart and Dread I who we had just met in a dumpling shop a couple of nights before. Overall, it was fantastic to see so much talent gathered in one place.
Ranking Roger also played some of his exclusive heavy weight dub from the Ranking Roger studio that shook the place up and showed off the bass of the Jam Jah Sound.
Thanks to everyone who made it down, and made it so good and see you for the next session on the 23rd feb!

After a warm up by the Jam Jah, Messenger Douglas Douglas played the first set with a heavy roots riddim collection by alphamix with his usual lyrical and vocal talent. Second up was Mr. Cantakerous that came with a lively dancehall set with nuff crowd participation with his "Mission" lyrics.
Ras-T-weed was in the crowd and jumped in for some freestyle action in the Jam Jah mix. Guest DJ for the occasion was Double H who selected a deep duby set with Robin at the controls in the early hours of the morning, which went down a treat on the Jam Jah System.

Thanks to Roots Fella for making it down from Sheffield and playing a killer set, with nuff exclusives. I have to salute the Roots Manuva dubplate "Witness the Fitness" that ended the set - deadly!

What a night! Ras T Weed and Messenger Douglas truly mashed up the dance backed by the friendly fire band with a very heavy set engineered by Jaffa, from Crucial Music.
Unfortunately, some technical difficulty means we were unable to record the event properly - the only ting we have to show is a few lo-fi videos taken with a stills camera, wich explains the quality of the recording. Thanks to everyone who contributed with the "filming"....
